New Softball Coach

The Southern Boone School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Zach Moore as the new head softball coach at Southern Boone High School.

Moore brings eight years of coaching experience from New Bloomfield, where he served four years as an assistant coach and four years as head softball coach. During his time with the program, he helped lead a team to a Final Four appearance as an assistant and most recently guided the program to a district championship.

In addition to softball, Moore has coached baseball, track and field, and basketball. He has also served as the Athletic and Activities Director at New Bloomfield for the past three years, while teaching P.E. and Health.

Moore earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in administration from Lincoln University, where he was also a member of the baseball team.

A proud Southern Boone graduate, Moore attended Southern Boone schools from kindergarten through graduation in 2013. He and his wife, Haley, have two daughters who will continue the family’s connection to the district. With strong ties to the Ashland community, Moore says returning to Southern Boone is especially meaningful.

“I am beyond excited for the opportunity to come back and lead the Southern Boone softball program,” Moore said. “I take a lot of pride in what this program has been, and I’m ready to push it even further. Our teams will be disciplined, tough, and relentless. We will compete with intensity, play the game the right way, and represent this community with pride every time we step on the field.”

Activities Director Trent Tracy says Moore’s experience, leadership, and deep connection to the district make him a strong fit for the program.

“Zach brings a great combination of coaching success, leadership experience, and a genuine passion for Southern Boone,” said Tracy. “We’re excited to welcome him back and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our student-athletes and softball program.”

Moore expressed appreciation for the opportunity and is eager to get started.

“I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to being part of such a great district once again,” Moore said. “Southern Boone has always meant a lot to me—not just as a former student, but as someone who has built a life and family here. To have the chance to come back and invest in our student-athletes, build relationships, and be part of something bigger than just softball is truly special. I’m excited to get to work and help our program continue to grow and succeed.”

Moore will officially begin his role on July 1st, 2026 as he prepares for the upcoming softball season.
