Southern Boone Athletics will honor active-duty military members, veterans and first responders during Heroes Appreciation Night on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Southern Boone High School. The event is sponsored by Veterans United Home Loans.
The Southern Boone Eagles will host the Blair Oaks Falcons, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. A special pregame ceremony honoring military members and first responders will take place before kickoff.
Active military members, veterans and first responders will receive free admission to the game and a free Tailgate Special Dinner at the concession stand.
“Heroes Appreciation Night is an opportunity for Southern Boone Athletics and our community to express our gratitude to the courageous individuals who serve and protect us,” Southern Boone Activities Director Trent Tracy said. “We appreciate Veterans United Home Loans for sponsoring this special event and helping us recognize our military members, veterans and first responders.”
The event will bring the school and community together to celebrate the men and women who have served in the armed forces and those who respond when their neighbors need help.
“Our players and coaches understand that football is much bigger than what happens on the field,” Southern Boone Head Football Coach Tyler Tanner said. “We are proud to recognize the individuals who have sacrificed so much for our country and community. It will be an honor to take the field in front of them on September 11.”
Southern Boone cheerleaders will also participate in the pregame ceremony and help lead the evening’s recognition.
“We want every military member and first responder in attendance to feel the support and gratitude of our students and community,” Southern Boone Cheerleading Coach Lindsay Morris said. “Our cheerleaders are honored to help recognize these deserving heroes and thank them for everything they do.”
Community members are encouraged to attend the game and join Southern Boone Athletics in thanking military personnel, veterans and first responders for their courage, dedication and service.
