Southern Boone Girls Soccer is having its Pink Out Game on Wednesday, May 11th against Hannibal. Pink Out Shirts will be $15 each and $17 for sizes 2XL and up. You will get free admission if you wear the shirt to the game. Order deadline is this Monday, April 25th. The Southern Boone School Board of Education met on Monday night, and approved changes to the 2021-2022 school district calendar. These changes to the calendar are due to the school district taking a snow day on Friday, March 11th. READ MORE HERE: https://bit.ly/3Exgfxl

8th grade students went to the high school this morning for their High School Enrollment Orientation. Current juniors led tour groups, helped them fill out their ICAP, and answered questions. The high school counselors will visit the middle school next week to finalize their enrollment for next school year.

FBLA State Leadership Convention came to a close today in Springfield. Southern Boone had five students compete and two students advancing to to the FBLA National Convention in Chicago, June 29th-July 2nd.

High school students, Amanda Felmlee, Kristyn Schaller and Lauren Parker are attending the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference this week in Springfield.

Six Ashland FFA members attended Missouri Farm Bureau Youth Leadership Day in Jefferson City today. Thank you to Boone County Farm Bureau for inviting the students to participate.

Members of the High School Chamber Choir and Band participated in District Music Contest for solos and ensembles over Spring Break. All students achieved either gold or silver ratings. This week is National Assistant Principals Week. Thank you to our amazing assistant principals for everything they do for our students, staff and our schools.

Today is National School Librarian Day! Thank you to our amazing Library Media Specialists for everything they do. This day recognizes the professionals who keep the school library in working order and spend long hours keeping the library organized. They are also dedicated to helping students find the resources they need to keep learning.

Our building principals are attending a career fair today at the University of Missouri. They are talking to college students majoring in education, about job openings at our district for next school year.

The Southern Boone School District is currently hiring for a number of certified positions for the 2022-2023 school year. Dr. Miller's high school Dual Credit American History class is busy working on their midterm essays. The students picked between two topics, the Progressive Era or American Imperialism at the turn of the century. They were given a question and a set of 12-15 primary and secondary sources to use as evidence to support their arguments. The purpose of the assessment is to determine how much they have learned about the topics and whether or not they can construct a clear argument based on source material chosen from the provided collection.
