
The middle school used its intervention time during the 1st semester to focus on reading skills. On Tuesday, students participated in an assembly to celebrate their growth. Many students were recognized for their efforts to be better readers.

8th grade students in the advanced English class at the middle school had book club discussions about characters and their reactions to real life situations in their respective books.

Last week, the middle school held an assembly and had an Eagle Bill Giveaway. Students were entered into a drawing for a Taco Bell gift card. Students entered the giveaway with Eagle Bills that they earned by being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible while at school.

Southern Boone Middle School Choirs presents Willy Wonka KIDS: The Musical at 2 p.m. this Saturday afternoon in the high school auditorium.


Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science classes are growing mold. Students are looking at which conditions either grow mold better or stop mold from growing. The reason for growing mold is to explore what decomposers do which is break down dead material. Students are learning about how mold comes from a mushroom spore which grows into a mushroom root (a decomposer) and starts breaking down the food.




The Southern Boone School District is inviting students, staff and district patrons to provide input for the design of the new field turf at the high school's outdoor stadium.

Students in Mrs. Purvis 6th grade English language arts class this week worked on puzzles that were complex sentences.




Students in Mrs. Kennedy's 7th grade social studies classes are on the case! Earlier this week, they put on their detective caps to analyze a cold case file over the disappearance of the Roanoke Colony in Roanoke, Virginia in 1590.
