The Southern Boone Eagle Foundation recognized four honorees during the Southern Boone Golden Eagles Club Spring Dinner and Program on Tuesday, April 14.
The annual event celebrated the contributions of alumni, educators, staff and community partners who continue to make a lasting impact on the Southern Boone School District.
April Ash received the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award, recognizing her achievements and service. A 1996 graduate of Southern Boone High School, Ash has built a career as a nuclear pharmacist and manager at Essential Isotopes, where her work supports the detection and treatment of cancer. She also serves as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and served abroad in Cuba as an active-duty officer from May 2024 to May 2025.
Rebekah Hammett was named the recipient of the 2026 Distinguished Educator Award for her impact on students and the community through her work as an agriculture education teacher. With 17 years of experience, Hammett is known for her dedication to student success, leadership in FFA, and ability to build meaningful relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
Lucas Karr, primary school assistant principal, received the 2026 Eagle Elite Award, which honors current staff members who go above and beyond in their service to students and colleagues. Karr was recognized for his leadership, commitment to student well-being, and efforts to foster a positive and supportive school environment.
The 2026 Friend of Education Award was presented to the Southern Boone Learning Garden, a program that has provided hands-on, garden-based learning experiences to students since 2007. Serving more than 850 students annually, the program connects classroom learning with real-world applications, promoting healthy lifestyles and community engagement.
“These awards highlight the incredible people and programs that make Southern Boone such a special place,” said Dr. Tim Roth. “Each of these recipients represents the very best of our district through their leadership, service and commitment to others.”
Roth added, “The event is a reminder that our strength comes from our people — those who serve, lead and give back to support our students and our community. Their impact reaches far beyond our classrooms.”
The evening also featured musical performances by members of the sixth-grade choir, along with updates from each school building and the district.
The foundation thanked event sponsor Jacob Garrett with Motto Mortgage Pathway, as well as district leaders, student performers, the Eagle Foundation and others who helped make the evening a success.
The Southern Boone Eagle Foundation extended its congratulations to all award recipients and appreciation to the community for its continued support of the school district.
