Southern Boone Athletics will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1986 Softball State Championship Team this evening as the Eagles host Hickman! 🦅❤️🖤
Due to the heat, the times for tonight’s celebration and softball game have been pushed back.
⏰ UPDATED SCHEDULE:
🏆 5:45 p.m. — Pre-game recognition of the 1986 State Championship Team
🥎 5:55 p.m. — Ceremonial first pitch
🥎 6:00 p.m. — Southern Boone vs. Hickman
The 1986 Lady Eagles finished their historic season 16-1, won the Little Dixie Conference and recorded 10 shutouts while outscoring opponents 142-31. They capped off the season with a thrilling 6-5 victory over Westran in 10 innings to win the State Championship!

Please join us in welcoming Lauren Loehner back to the Southern Boone School District! Lauren is beginning her fifth year as a classroom educator and will serve as a reading interventionist at Southern Boone Middle School.
Lauren earned bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Reading Education from Northwest Missouri State University. She is currently pursuing a specialist degree in Educational Diagnostician. Her experience includes working as an instructional aide and teaching several grade levels from kindergarten through fifth grade, including kindergarten at Southern Boone Primary during the 2023-2024 school year.
Lauren is excited to return to the district and support student success. “I’ve truly been welcomed back with open arms. It’s like I never left. The community here is the best!”
Lauren and her husband have been married since 2018 and have four children, including two who attend Southern Boone Primary School. Their family is active in the Ashland community, coaching soccer, T-ball and softball through the Southern Boone YMCA and Ashland Optimist Club.

Please join us in welcoming Cole Trautman to the Southern Boone School District! Cole brings four years of experience in education to his role as a 5th grade math teacher at Southern Boone Middle School.
Cole earned a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Hannibal-LaGrange University.
Originally from Jefferson City, Cole is excited to return home and be closer to family. “It is exciting to be back home and helping the communities around where I grew up.”
Cole and his wife have been married for two years and have a 1-year-old son. They enjoy spending their free time together as a family.

Please join us in welcoming Steve Cochran to the Southern Boone School District! Steve brings three years of experience in education to his role as a paraprofessional at Southern Boone Middle School.
Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Respiratory Therapy. He is eager to return to his role as a paraprofessional and support Southern Boone students.
Steve has two sons and recently welcomed his first grandchild, Evelyn Jane, who was born August 9th! Evelyn’s name honors the memory of his sons’ mother.
