Arlene has worked as a paraprofessional for the past six years, including three years leading small-group math instruction for students in grades 3–5 and supporting reading interventions. She is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education through Grand Canyon University.
Arlene is excited to join the Southern Boone Middle School community. “I’m looking forward to getting to know my students and their families.”
Arlene has two children who are both attending college. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach, attending concerts and sporting events, playing volleyball and spending time with family and friends.

Today, our district administration team and Professional Development Committee officially welcomed our new teachers, along with their mentor teachers.
The group discussed a variety of topics to help prepare for a successful school year. New teachers will also spend time in their buildings with their principals and work alongside their mentors in their classrooms.
We’re excited to welcome these educators to the Southern Boone family and wish them a great school year! 🦅❤️🖤

⚾🥎 Baseball and Softball Complex Improvements
One of the many projects completed this summer on the Southern Boone High School campus was improvements to the baseball and softball complex!
The project included replacing gravel areas with concrete walkways, expanding the lower-level spectator viewing area around the bleachers and constructing a decorative block retaining wall.
Funded through the April 2024 no-tax-rate-increase bond issue, these upgrades will improve safety, accessibility and the overall experience for our student-athletes, families and visitors. 🦅❤️🖤

Ann earned her teaching degree from the University of Missouri . Throughout her career, she has served as a second-, third- and fifth-grade teacher, preschool director, principal and paraprofessional. Most recently, she operated an in-home preschool focused on early literacy and foundational math skills.
Ann is passionate about early childhood education and helping young students become successful readers. “Being able to work with our earliest learners and help them achieve reading success is very exciting to me.”

This important hands-on training helps ensure our team is prepared to respond confidently during a medical emergency. An additional CPR training course will be offered to staff next week.

From instruction and student support to transportation, communications and school safety, every department plays an important role in helping our schools succeed.
We appreciate our administrators’ leadership, teamwork and continued commitment to Southern Boone students, staff and families. We’re excited for another great school year! 🦅❤️🖤

She brings five years of experience with Simi Valley Unified School District in California and three years of experience as a manager of real estate and development.
Kristen is excited to lead the district’s facilities and maintenance team as it works to provide safe, clean and welcoming learning environments. “I look forward to collaborating with the team, supporting their work and continuing to make a positive impact across the district.”
Kristen previously served the Ashland community for two years as an alderwoman. She is excited to continue giving back through her new role with the district.
Kristen and her husband, Nate, moved to Ashland from Southern California five years ago. Their son, Colton, will be a second grader at Southern Boone Primary School, and their daughter, Mckenzie, is looking forward to becoming an Eagle in a few years. The family enjoys spending time at the Ashland pool and participating in soccer, flag football and baseball. Kristen also enjoys early-morning workouts at the Southern Boone Area YMCA.
