On January 1, 2026, Southern Boone High School and Middle School Director of Bands T.J. Higgins proudly represented Mid-Missouri at the iconic Rose Parade in Pasadena, California!
Mr. Higgins was selected through a national nomination process to march with the Band Directors Marching Band, a group of 350 band directors from across all 50 states — plus Canada, Mexico, and Panama — as part of the Saluting America’s Band Directors project, sponsored by the Michael D. Sewell Memorial Foundation.
This marked Mr. Higgins’ second Rose Parade appearance (his first was in 2022) and one of only 11 representatives from Missouri in this prestigious group.
🎶 This year’s theme said it best: “America’s Band Directors: We teach music. We teach life.”
We’re incredibly proud of Mr. Higgins for showcasing the power of music education — and for representing Southern Boone on a global stage! 🦅🎶
