Today is Paraprofessional Appreciation Day. This day honors paraprofessional educators, who may also be known as paras, instructional assistants, or teacher aides. Paraprofessionals perform a variety of teaching-related jobs and often assist teachers in classrooms. Paras may work with students on supplemental enrichment activities, either in small groups or one-on-one. They may also help students complete assignments or practice reading. Paraprofessionals often work with students with special education needs and a variety of disabilities. They may also supervise students outside of classrooms and help teachers with clerical work. Paraprofessionals work tirelessly each day to support students & teachers, so today we honor them for their service. Thank you to our great group of paraprofessionals!

The Southern Boone School District is preparing to review its Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP). A CSIP is a three to five year strategic plan for a school district. A climate and culture survey is part of the CSIP review process. Below is a link to take the school district's Parents/Community Climate and Culture Survey. QUESTION NO. 2: 20 Cent Levy Transfer Question No. 2 in the April 2nd election is a 20 cent levy transfer to help support teachers and staff in the district. The question seeks authorization from voters to make adjustments to the district’s debt services and operating property tax levies. This adjustment will not raise the district's current tax rate. The proposal is a levy transfer of 20 cents from the debt services fund to the operating fund. This transfer aims to help the district's ability to attract and retain high-quality educators by increasing salaries for teachers and staff. Registration is underway for 2024 Summer School for students that will be in Kindergarten-8th grade during the 2024-2025 school year. Summer school will take place June 3rd-27th. REMINDER: The Southern Boone Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Boone Economic Development Council are hosting Virtual Candidate Forums for the City of Ashland and Southern Boone Board of Education candidates at 7 p.m. this evening. Join Southern Boone Primary School for Family Reading Night this evening from 5:30PM-7PM!

Southern Boone PTA is hosting a Food Truck Frenzy fundraiser this evening from 5PM-8PM in the primary/elementary school bus loop. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Southern Boone PTA to help support teachers and staff in our school district.
