
Students in Mrs. Hammann's kindergarten class have been learning about the Thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed their version of a Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday.



Third grade students recently read the book, Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade by Melissa Street. The middle school is hosting a basketball showcase this afternoon. Southern Boone 7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball teams are taking on California. All middle school students are attending the games to cheer on their classmates.




The Southern Boone Board of Education is hosting a School Board Candidate Workshop on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 at 6 p.m. in the central office boardroom.

The Southern Boone County R-1 Public School District invites qualified persons interested in running for a position on the School Board to file to be a candidate in the April 2, 2024 election. There are two positions available, each with three-year terms. Filing will begin on December 5, 2023, at 8 a.m. Filing will end on December 26, 2023, at 5 p.m.

Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class recently worked on creating elephant toothpaste and looked at how the conservation of mass plays a role in chemical changes.


The school district is hosting a community forum about a potential April 2024 bond issue for a high school expansion construction project. The forum will be at 6 p.m. this evening (Tuesday, November 14th) in the high school commons.

Unlock the potential of curious minds at Club Invention, an afterschool program created by the National Inventors Hall of Fame! Club Invention will be on Friday afternoons from December 8th-January 19th for 1st-6th grade students. More information is available at www.invent.org.

Southern Boone High School held its annual Veterans Day Program this afternoon. The event included performances by the high school band, choir and color guard, guest speaker Colonel Don Koonce, recognition of veterans and more. Thank you to the veterans for attending today's event, but most importantly, thank you for serving our country.











Our school counselors spent a few days at the Missouri School Counselor Association Fall Conference this week. The counselors attended a variety of professional learning sessions that will help them better serve our students and community.
