
Congratulations to middle school 5th grade teacher Shelby Contrades for being named a McDonald's Outstanding Educator!
Mrs. Contrades is described as someone her students and fellow teachers can depend on. She attends her students' extracurricular activities, helps mentor teachers and thrives as an educator.

CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE: Connor Burns is the Boys Class 3 State Champion and Alexandra Volkart is the Girls Class 3 State Champion.
Southern Boone Girls team finished 9th at the state meet. Evan Mauney came in 6th place, followed by Zafaran Satterfield (52nd), Elizabeth Hess (131st) and Nora Hess (138th) out of 161 runners in Class 3. Brian Burns finished in 21st place and Brian Kitch came in 90th, out of 159 runners in Class 3.

FOOTBALL UPDATE: Due to the rain/storms in the forecast, tonight's football game at Moberly has been moved up to a 4PM start.


High school art students visited the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City on Thursday. Students experienced a wide array of art from ancient cultures to classical Europe, America and Contemporary art. The artwork included paintings, sculptures and furniture.


SAVE THE DATE: Southern Boone Middle School will host a Community Open House on Thursday, November 10th from 5-6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend to tour the completed new addition and renovation project at the middle school.

Middle school students Leo and Grace Overstreet thought they were just playing a game of singing song lyrics during lunch today. The brother and sister received a special prize, a surprise from their dad, U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Joe Overstreet, who returned home from being deployed in Texas for the past year. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a soccer jersey to school on Wednesday to help support and cheer on the Southern Boone Boys Soccer team as they take on Helias in the district championship on Wednesday night. Go Eagles!


On Monday, students in Ms. Anthony's 3rd grade class learned about why they have bones and made x-rays of the bones in their hands!
